Japan's Prime Minister: Supporters of zero nuclear power 'irresponsible'

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe ruled out the possibility Thursday of Japan promising to get rid of all its nuclear reactors, suggesting those who urge such a policy goal are "irresponsible."

The comment came in the wake of comments by Junichiro Koizumi, who handpicked Abe to succeed him as premier in 2006.
Koizumi, who retired from politics in 2009, made a rare political comment recently when he urged the government and the ruling parties to stop using atomic power.
