US Markets December 11th, 2013



The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) fell 130 points (0.8%) to 15,844, the S&P 500 Index declined 21 points (1.3%) to 1,782, and the Nasdaq Composite tumbled 57 points (1.4%) to 4,004. In moderate volume, 740 million shares were traded on the NYSE, and 1.9 billion shares changed hands on the Nasdaq. WTI crude oil fell $1.07 to $97.44 per barrel, wholesale gasoline lost $0.02 to $2.66 per gallon, and the Bloomberg gold spot price declined $8.59 to $1,253.80 per ounce. Elsewhere, the Dollar Index-a comparison of the US dollar to six major world currencies-was 0.1% lower at 79.87.
