China: Tens of millions travel back home for Spring Festival

Spring Festival is just around the corner, and millions of people are on their way back home before the Lunar New Year. China's transportation authorities said railway transportation is to reach its peak on Tuesday, with 7 million journeys expected.
40% of these trips will be made in and out of South China. And in East China, over 200 extra train services are provided in populous cities.
On Monday, over 1 million journeys were made via water transportation. And over 97 million journeys were made via railways, an increase of 9.4% compared with the same period last year.
Beijing railway authorities said there was a huge increase in the cancellation of journeys in recent days. An average of 130,000 tickets were refunded per day, and they remind travellers to keep trying their luck if they have not had luck yet purchasing their ticket home.
