China recorded more than 500 million active smart devices as of the second quarter of 2013, doubled the reading of 2012 Q4. Of which, 340 million are Android-powered devices, 150 million are iOS devices, and 7.40 million are Windows Phone and Windows RT terminals, according to 2013 H1 report released by Umeng, an analytical service provider.
According to the report, Chinese low- and middle-end Android devices have achieved substantial growth, while Apple’s total share in China has dropped 5.4% since no new device was unveiled in this half year. Domestic brands that grow rapidly include Lenovo, Huawei, Xiaomi, Coolpad, ZTE, OPPO, BBK, etc. Lenovo replaced HTC as the second largest Android phone manufacturer and Xiaomi elbowed into the top five spots in terms of Android device market share.
